This mid-century impressionist oil was purchased from a gallery in Louisville, KY, and then hung in a law firm conference room for several decades. Although unusual to see paintings of American Road Horses in competition, these high trotting horses are differentiated from their racing cousins because they aren’t wearing head numbers or saddle numbers. The noted artist, M. Maleter, was born in Spain in 1925 and studied in Paris and Naples before moving to the United States.
