The Sally and Joe Jackson Heritage Garden is officially open at the American Saddlebred Museum. The sold-out Summer Garden Party opened with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Sunday, July 7. Carson Kressley hosted the event.
Designed by noted garden designer, Jon Carloftis, the Heritage Garden creates a rhythm and motion around the building, enticing visitors to enter. Carloftis says of the design, “Anybody can design anything, but if it doesn’t last and get better each year then it’s not worth too much. I use a lot of native plants and a lot of evergreens so that in the winter, it will be just as beautiful.” The foundation of the garden is the CHWild-Eyed And Wicked sculpture by Sally Jackson.
Directly following the ribbon cutting, guests entered the Museum for a lunch and style show. Fashion from Lexington clothiers Carl Meyers, Stuart Mercer, and Hats by Katie were featured. The Fetzer Face created the model makeup and Freedman’s provided elegant handbags.
“This is a great day for the American Saddlebred Museum.” Executive Director Jennifer Foster said of the event festivities. “We are so pleased with the beautiful garden. The Museum’s exterior is now as much of a celebration of the breed as the exhibits inside. Thanks to our founding donors as well as the Heritage Garden Committee who made this possible.” The event served as the Museum’s annual July fundraiser to support the ongoing mission to preserve the history and heritage of the American Saddlebred.
