Be A Part of History...

October 20, 2017
On July 8th, Executive Director Jennifer Foster and Event Chair Cindy Carcione, along with the Museum team put together a see-and-be-seen event during the Lexington Junior League Charity Horse Show. As the unfortunate rain, though perhaps fitting given its historical frequency, subsided at the last year at the Red Mile over 200 guests enjoyed brunch and festivities at the Museum. People mingled and took in the Museum’s current exhibit, Legends of the Saddlebred World: The Lives and Times of Tom & Donna Moore, as well as entries to the 2017 Youth, Young Adult, and Adult Art Contest. There were long lines to meet and be photographed with Patricia Altschul, star of Bravo TV’s Southern Charm, and Fashion maven, Saddlebred enthusiast, and Museum Trustee, Carson Kressley. Altschul signed copies of her bestselling book, The Art of Southern Charm, and Kressley signed copies of his latest book, Does This Book Make My Butt Look Big? In the theater, riders in the Equitation Triple Crown, including Jama Hedden (Branham), Kate Harvey Codeanne, Catherine Schuessler McNeese (DuPont), Amanda Arrick (Robertson), Sarah Thordsen, Brittany McGinnis, Faye Wuesthofen, Nick Maupin, Jessie Wuesthofen, and Macey Miles took part in a lively panel discussion led by Curator, Kim Skipton. During brunch, Rodes of Louisville presented classic looks for men by Haspel, the prominent New Orleans based men’s clothing company renowned for its use of seersucker. Haspel was graciously a brunch sponsor and Laurie Haspel Aronson attended the event. Draper James, the southern inspired lifestyle brand founded by actress Reese Witherspoon, provided women’s fashion modeled by familiar faces from our industry. It was certainly a day to remember. We appreciate everyone that came out to support the Museum and hope that all of you had as much fun as we did!

On Wednesday, August 23, 2017 immediately following the evening performance of the World’s Championship Horse Show, Saddlebred celebrities will compete to raise funds for the American Saddlebred Museum. The Saddlebred Café in the North Wing, adjacent to Freedom Hall, will be the venue for this fabulous event. You do not want to miss this 70s themed game show competition!

The featured Saddlebred celebrity squares will consist of Paul Boone, Donnie Brookshire, Vickie Byrd, Rich Campbell, Tre Lee, Jim Lowry, Christy Parker, Howie Schatzberg, and Bud Willimon. Help them by going to crowdrise.com/SaddlebredSquares and vote with your dollars for your favorites. The participants are competing to get the most donations for the win.

Bid to become one of the contestants at the X or O player positions during 5 rounds of play on The Saddlebred Squares! The winner of each experience will have the opportunity to be the corresponding contestant for that round of The Saddlebred Squares. The contestants take turns choosing a celebrity square and follow the traditional Tic-Tac-Toe game play strategies, for which square to select. The celebrity is asked a question and gives an answer. The contestants have the choice of agreeing with the celebrity or disagreeing if they think the celebrity is bluffing. If the contestant is right, he or she gets the square (X or O); if the contestant is wrong, the other contestant gets the square, unless that would win the game for the opponent. In that case, the opponent has to win the square on his or her own. A contestant can also win by getting five ‘squares’ on the game board. Visit this site to bid and become a contestant!

Seating consists of VIP booths and preferred sponsor tables for 8, 6, or 4 surrounding the stage - ensuring a close-up view of the action! Plus we have a new option for a reserved cocktail table for 4 with bar stools. At the end of the performances, attendees will have the opportunity to vote for their favorites with their donations. As soon as the “votes” are tabulated, the winner of the contest will be announced. The dance floor will then be open for all to enjoy.

Gather your friends and barn families and purchase your booths or tables early to reserve your spot to watch the most exciting event of the Louisville week! Dress in your most glamorous ‘70s attire and join us! A special buffet will be served and every attendee will receive two complimentary drink tickets. Use the Museum’s website for tickets, pledges, and sponsorship opportunities with preferred seating and amenities. Follow the link to crowdrise.com/SaddlebredSquares to donate, and charityauctionstoday.com to bid to be a contestant.

A limited number of general admissions tickets will be released for sale on August 10TH.

Sponsorship Opportunties are available! View table details!
